Five Finger Death Punch’s Utah Concert Cut Short – Meltdown
One of my favorite memories includes Lzzy Hale embarrassing my son about 5 or 6 years ago. Another great one was the induction of the Bob Seger Dr. with some local radio legends: Jim Johnson, Steve Costan, Ken Calvert and Karen Savelly. Two more great ones were interviewing Ivan moody from FFDP on the hill after the doors had opened and interviewing Halestorm backstage.
Just the fact that when Pine Knob is open means it's the warm weather season. I love open air, outdoor concerts. Slipknot was one of my favorites I've seen there. The MANY Kid Rock shows. Riff Fest is always fun, but hectic. Too many to name over the past 26 years I've been here....
It was quite the eventful weekend for the Five Finger Death Punch guys.
During their concert on Sunday, in West Valley City, Utah, FFDP were only eight songs in when everything went dark. Guitarist Zoltan Bathory said a drunk driver struck a transformer down the road, ultimately cutting the power out.
He took to Twitter and tweeted, “Salt Lake City started out as an incredible show with 20,000 fans… this was going off when a drunk driver hit a transformer down the road and knocked out the power for the whole area one more reason to not drink and drive… you screwed up 20,000 people’s day.”
Also, at a stop in singer, Ivan Moody’s hometown of Denver, Colorado on Saturday, he announced he’ll be retiring after the band’s next album.

Meltdown started on the mighty WRIF on the evening of Halloween, 1995. Technically, his first on-air shift was the morning of November 1st. Moving to the Motor City from Buffalo, N.Y., he has built a career and family. Over his almost three-decade stint at RIFF, he's had the privilege to work with some of the biggest personalities in Detroit radio history. He boasts of being just the second-afternoon drive jock in the station's illustrious 53-year history.
Along with his love for rock music and attending concerts, he's also an avid Harley-Davidson enthusiast and hockey player. He plays year-round and manages to squeeze in a few charity games throughout the year. Meltdown writes about the Detroit Red Wings, rock music, and Detroit concert venues.
