Ex Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford Has Trouble in Paradise with the Rams
The Detroit Lions just wrapped up a horrible game on Sunday (Oct. 9) against the New England Patriots, so the last thing we should be doing is looking back at former Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford and what’s going on with him and the L.A. Rams. But, it’s worth noting that Stafford also had a rough Sunday.
The Rams fell to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, and Stafford’s performance was pretty rough. The Cowboys sacked Stafford five times in their win over the Rams. That’s a lot. Duh.
After the Rams’ offense showed major problems for the second game in a row and the team lost their second straight game, head coach Sean McVay said Stafford needs help. “I love Matthew Stafford,” McVay said after the 22-10 loss to the Cowboys. “He is competing and doing everything in his power for this team. He needs some help. We’ve got to be able to help him.”
In that same press conference, Stafford was asked how he feels physically after taking so many rough hits this season. “I feel OK,” Stafford replied. “It’s part of the game.”
Like the Lions, the Rams are dealing with a lot of injuries, especially in the offense. When asked how the Rams can remedy their offensive line, McVay said in the press conference, “I don’t know if I have that answer right now. But we’ve got to be able to figure it out, whether it’s guys that are playing right now or whether we need to figure out some other options. But it’s not good enough and it’s not exclusive to one player, to one position. But there are some things that consistently are glaring issues for us that are preventing us a chance to be able to operate at a level that you guys have seen from us.”
