Detroit Starts Demolition of Part of Vacant Packard Plant
Part of the Packard Plant building in Detroit was torn down on Thursday (Sept. 29). The building has been vacant for decades.
The City of Detroit is paying for the demolition, despite the fact that the building is owned by a Peruvian developer.
The Detroit City Council approved a $1.7 million budget to tear down the building a few months ago.
Owner Fernando Palazuelo purchased the building in 2013 for just $400,000.
