The Seattle grunge band movement at its heyday had great bands like Soundgarden, Mudhoney and Alice in Chains- and a band called Pen Cap Chew that would go on to be one of the biggest bands in the grunge movement. Unfortunately, Kurt Cobain settled on the name Nirvana, and the rest is rock 'n' roll history.
The first time I heard Nirvana, I was working as a club bar disc jockey at The Ritz in Roseville. A patron brought in an album called "Bleach" from a band called Nirvana. It was definitely a different change than what was popular at the time. The hair band era was getting really predictable and at that time was in the power ballad phase.
