New Scam: Notes on Cars Saying “Pay Me So I Don’t Have to Rob You”
People in San Francisco have been finding notes on their cars that basically say ‘PAY ME so I don’t have to ROB YOU.
Someone posted a photo of a note that said, quote, “I don’t want to steal anymore. But I still have bills to pay. Can you help me please?” And there were three ways to pay . . . with PayPal, CashApp, or a QR code to send Bitcoin.

The payment options allow the person putting the notes out there to pretty much remain anonymous. The SFPD say this is the first time they’ve seen criminals take this approach.
