'Dirty Shirly' is the 2022 Drink of the Summer

You can’t be serious and stop calling me Shirley. That’s a famous movie line from the movie “Airplane.”

Move over Moscow mule- the hit drink of the summer of 2022 is reminiscent of your childhood sitting at a cozy restaurant while your parents consume beverages! And, of course, you felt left out.

You wished there was a drink that was just for you, and back then, it was a Shirley Temple. I remember my first Shirley Temple as a child at Mr Paul’s Chop House before I consumed a complete plate of frog legs Roadhouse Style, but that’s a story for another time. This story is about the newest fad- our old friend Shirley Temple.

Shirley Temple has become an adult, and the new drink is called a Dirty Shirley. It’s an alcoholic spin on the classic Shirley Temple. The Dirty Shirley is a cocktail traditionally made with vodka, lemon lime soda or Ginger ale and grenadine that gives you the wonderful color and is garnished with a maraschino cherry. It has a lot more of a kick!

With the current heatwave I think I’ll try to make a gallon or two this weekend to enjoy!
