I’ve been on WRIF for almost 27 years, and one thing remains the same – bands love to play here! I have friends in many bands that have told me, on and off the air, about the great crowds that attend concerts here in the “D.” I mean, look at all the live albums that have been recorded here over the years.
The latest rocker to sing our praises, completely unprovoked, is Bush’s Gavin Rossdale. While wrapping up my interview with him, he interrupted me to complement you guys. “I gotta tell you, it’s always great to come to Detroit. Probably the best place in America to play. It reminds me of Portuguese or Brazilian audiences.” He went on to say, “I don’t know what is in the water there, I don’t know what you guys eat, or what does this, but it is a fierce audience.” He told me he didn’t say that to any other radio station he’d talked to that day. He wrapped up by saying “There’s only one Detroit!”
How cool it that? Give yourself a hand, Motor city! You can watch, or listen to my conversation with Gavin below….
