Judas Priest Gets A Rock Hall Participation Trophy – Meltdown
I was wondering how long it was going to take before someone called the stupid “Musical Excellence Award” what it actually is…a participation trophy. I’ll admit, I never heard of it until this year. What that says to me is “We don’t actually want you staining our beautiful hall with your loud, grimy music, but your fans are unrelenting, so here’s an award to shut them up.”
That’s exactly what the garbage Rock N’ Roll Hall Of Fame has done to the mighty Judas Priest. It’s a total sham. Like Priest singer Rob Halford said, and he’s 100% correct, “Why haven’t they given us the same title as all of our friends. Black Sabbath, for example. There’s a different tag, isn’t there?” He went on to say that he’s not mad or jealous of Sabbath, but he just wants to be treated the same. You can read that article here.
When the Rock Hall started, fans around the world were excited to see something for rock fans. Well, it’s turned out to be a cooperate hose job that apparently just lets in any form of music. I could go on and on about the rap, country, hip hop, pop and other acts that are in. We’ve all seen the travesty that place has become. I’ll be honest, there are some bands in there that I truly like, that don’t belong in the Hall.
You won’t see Metallica get inducted into the country Hall of Fame, so Dolly Parton (who I have to utmost respect for) shouldn’t be in the Rock Hall. I’ll be in Nashville next week. I’ll post pictures of all the rock bands in the Country Hall Of Fame….don’t hold your breath.
