If you drive around Detroit a lot, make note of some major construction coming up this weekend. Beginning at 4 a.m. on Friday (July 22), I-94 will be closed in both directions, between I-75 and M-10 (Lodge Freeway).
In addition, starting at 1 a.m. on the same day, entrance ramps to eastbound I-94 will be closed from 30th Street (just west of Warren Avenue) to Chrysler Drive. Also, all entrance ramps to westbound I-94 will be closed from Mt. Elliott Street to Trumbull Avenue.
MDOT says they are shooting to reopen everything at 4 a.m. on July 29. MDOT’s detour information states, “During the closure, eastbound I-94 traffic will be diverted to southbound M-10, then northbound I-75 back to eastbound I-94. Westbound I-94 traffic will follow southbound I-75, then westbound I-96 back to westbound I-94.”
MDOT will move the new Second Avenue bridge over I-94 in Detroit July 22-29, weather permitting.— I94Detroit (@i94Detroit) July 16, 2022
