The NHL Free Agency just opened up, and it’s a big day for the Detroit Red Wings. Plenty of signings are happening. Here’s a snapshot of the action.
The Detroit Red Wings signed first-round draft pick Marco Kasper to a three-year entry level contract. Kasper, 18, was picked 8th overall in this year’s draft. He’s also part of the Wings’ development camp this week.
The Wings have also signed defenseman Ben Chiarot to an four-year contract at $4.75M per year. Chiarot, 31, split the 2021-22 season between the Florida Panthers and Montreal Canadiens.
- The Wings signed forward David Perron to a two-year contract. He had 27 goals and 30 assists last season with St. Louis. 665 career points over 15 NHL seasons.
- The team also signed Center Andrew Copp to a five-year, $28.125 million deal. Had six goals and eight assists in 20 playoff games last season. 82 goals and 120 assists over 8 seasons.
- Also onboard is defenseman Olli Maatta, with a one-year deal. He’s had 136 career points over nine seasons.
- The team also signed forward Dominik Kubalik to a two-year contract worth $5 million. He has 62 goals and 54 assists in three NHL seasons.
