Former Michigan football head coach Gary Moeller has passed away. He was age 81.

Moeller was the head coach of the Wolverines from 1990-94, so not a super long time, but he took over for popular head coach Bo Schembechler. Before becoming head coach, he also was as a defensive ends coach, defensive coordinator, quarterbacks coach, defensive coordinator (again) and offensive coordinator under Schembechler.

He also spent four years with the Detroit Lions, where he was the linebackers coach.

He will be missed. We send our condolences.
