Michigan to Host the Largest Vincent van Gogh Exhibition in the U.S. in a Generation
Vincent van Gogh’s famed “Starry Night” painting will be on display in the U.S. for the first time in a decade this fall, and it’s all part of a new exhibit at one of Michigan’s most prestigious museums.
“Starry Night,” one of van Gogh’s most famous paintings, will be on display at the the Detroit Institute of Arts, on loan from Paris’s Musée d’Orsay. In total, more than 70 van Gogh paintings will be on display at the DIA starting Oct. 2, as part of its “Van Gogh in America.”
This exhibit is really putting the DIA on the map, as it’s going to be the largest-scale exhibition in the United States of Van Gogh’s work in a generation. It also help celebrate the 100th anniversary of the DIA acquiring van Gogh’s 1887 “Self-Portrait” in 1922.
“Van Gogh in America” will close on Jan. 23.
