A Plastic Surgeon Explains Why He Uses Leeches

Dr. Kumar is a plastic surgeon who posts videos about his job on TikTok.  A clip has been making the rounds where he explains why surgeons use leeches.

They release a substance that thins the blood and slows down clotting.  So if there’s too much blood going in, but not enough coming out, the leeches help relieve the pressure until the body takes over.
