Pepsi and pizza are a very common combination, but what about Pepsi-infused pepperoni pizza? Pepsi announced on Wednesday (May 18) that it’s planning a tasting of a special pizza with Pepsi-infused pepperoni in Detroit. Pepsi says it joined forces with the Culinary Institute of America Consulting to create this incredible (or gross, depending on how you see it) topping.
It’s called “Pepsi-Roni pizza,” featuring pepperoni infused with “rich caramel notes and brown spices with the citrusy pop of Pepsi cola.”
“The concept is quite simple. Pepperoni brings a smoky spiciness and the Pepsi adds a citrusy sweetness,” David Kamen, Director of Client Experience for CIA Consulting said. “It’s an intriguing combination we think pizza fans will be excited to try.”
The new pizza will debut Friday (May 20) in New York City. Then, it will roll out to Los Angeles, Detroit, Miami and Chicago.
