WRIF Named Best Local Radio Station in ‘Best of the Best’ Poll!

With over 93,000 votes counted, 101 WRIF was named Best Local Radio Station by the Detroit Free Press at Thursday’s (April 28) “Best of the Best” Detroit Gala at the Dearborn Inn! A huge thanks to everyone who voted for us and helped make us the best!

This Sunday (May 1), the Free Press will publish a “Best of the Best” section with special recognition of the first-place winners. Thank you, again, for your votes!

  Music has always been a part of my life. When I was four years old, my parents took me to see "Cats" in Toronto, and I apparently wouldn't stop singing "Memory" for the next several years! After I graduated from college, I knew I wanted to do radio. I got a master's degree in theater (and an undergrad in package engineering, long story!), and I thought, why not take what I learned in theater and voice and use it on the radio to talk about the music I love? Also, in college, I volunteered at the WKAR Radio Talking Book, a service for the visually impaired. I landed my very first radio gig at WWDX 92.1 The Edge in Lansing, Michigan- the same radio station that introduced me to rock music. I am so grateful for not only this business but the great friends I've made through radio. I've also met people through radio who later worked with me on my musical project, Upon Wings. Not to mention all the amazing stories I have from interviewing bands, etc., in this business.
