Who Will the Lions Pick in the NFL Draft?
Justin Valentine of Roar gives some insight that we can include on what the Lions might do in the first round:
· The Lions are highly interested in trading for San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel, which could mean trading one or both of our first round picks. Samuel has requested a trade from the Niners, and WR is a position of need for Detroit.
· It is said to be less likely that the Jacksonville Jaguars will take Michigan defensive end Aidan Hutchinson, with their focus now on Travon Walker, meaning Hutchinson could be staying in Michigan and going to the Lions at No. 2.
· Another edge option is Oregon’s Kayvon Thibedeaux, who was once projected as the top pick, but injuries during his final college season bumped him down, but kept him in the top 10.
· The talks of when the Lions will get another quarterback continues, with a few options in the first round: Kenny Pickett, Malik Willis, and Matt Corrall. None of those three really stand out too much, so any of them will be some form of “risk” and will have a lot of work to do before becoming a starter.
· If the team does not acquire Samuel from the Niners, the wide receiver position could be addressed in the draft with Ohio State’s Garrett Wilson, USC’s Drake London, and Alabama’s Jameson Williams
