It’s almost summer, and that feels oh-so good in Michigan. Our winters tend to be long and, well, cold, so it’s always a positive thing when summer rolls around and Michiganders can be outside for an extended length of time.

Michigan has a collection of fantastic beaches, since we’re obviously the Great Lakes State. You can’t go wrong with any of the state’s fine beaches, whether they are on the Great Lakes or one of our many inland lakes. Now, the experts over at U.S. News and World Report have put together a list of the best beaches in Michigan, and one stands out.

According to U.S. News and World Report, the No. 1 beach in Michigan is Warren Dunes State Park. I’ve never been there, but it sounds fascinating. “Overlooking Lake Michigan, Warren Dunes State Park boasts 6 miles of hiking trails and 3 miles of shoreline,” the publication states. “Spend the day collecting beach glass, discovering lost treasures with a metal detector or kayaking on the only Great Lake located completely inside the U.S. Better yet, with a designated dog-friendly beach, the whole family is welcome to tag along. If you need a break from the water, hop on a sandboard and zip down Tower Hill, the park’s highest point, or go hang gliding off of its peak. On a clear day, you may see Chicago in the distance.”

Now, I’m more of a Grand Haven girl, but that spot comes in at No. 3 on the list, so at least it’s high up. The publication picked P.J. Hoffmaster State Park for No. 2, South Haven at No. 4 and Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore at No. 5. Find the full list here. What’s your favorite Michigan beach? Reach out to me on social media and let me know, because I would love to try some new spots this summer.
