Two Michigan Artists Selected for National Singing Competition

It's a fact that there's a lot of great talent in Michigan. When it comes to music, we've had great such as Alice Cooper, Jack White, Eminem and Aretha Franklin and more hail from this incredible state.

That said, it makes sense that for the upcoming TV series "No Cover," a singing competition of sorts, two Michigan artists have been tapped to appear on the show. One would have been plenty, but knowing two are going to be on the show is extra thrilling.

"No Cover" debuts this Wednesday (April 20) on YouTube. One of the artists competing on the show is Josie Pace, a fantastic Detroit musician. In addition, a Michigan band from Leonard called The Native Howl is slated to appear on the show.

Hit Parade's "No Cover" has been in the works since 2020, so it's a long time coming. The reality series revolves around "changing the lives of unsigned artists," according to a statement. What makes this show very different from the rest is that is focuses on original music. No cover songs are allowed, which is obviously where they got the name.

The show is hosted by Kellin Quinn of Sleeping With Sirens, radio host Caity Babs and Matt Pinfield of MTV’s "120 Minutes." Judges include Alice Cooper, Lzzy Hale (Halestorm), Gavin Rossdale (Bush), Bishop Briggs, and Tosin Abasi (Animals as Leaders). Watch the trailer below. Winners will get a "six-figure" recording contract with Sumerian Records, booking agency representation from UTA, management from the Shelter Music Group, festival placement via Danny Wimmer Presents, studio time at Nightbird Recording Studios, fresh gear from Gibson, plus the opportunity for brand endorsements and licensing opportunities, according to a statement. Michiganders have a lot of pride about being from this great state. I certainly do! We've got the Great Lakes, beautiful forests, major sports teams and all the seasons. What's not to like? Okay, I could do without the cold winters. But, that aside, this is a pretty awesome place to live.
