Midnight Metal News - April 15th 2022

  • Tobias Forge Reveals Which Band He Would Like to Emulate

Tobias Forge of Ghost was asked what band’s career trajectory he’d most like to emulate and had this to say, “If there’s a comparison to make, generationally, it would be Rammstein. I have no intention of sounding like them, but as a visionary, it’s motivating for me to see how a band that were doing arenas up until a couple of years ago now play stadiums. So I’d see Rammstein as the sort of guidepost that I’m working towards.”

  • A Museum Dedicated to Cliff Burton

A new Museum will be opening in Ljungby Sweden next month celebrating the life and career of late-Metallica bassist Cliff Burton.

The museum will feature pictures, albums, posters, tickets and interviews with Burton as well as a recreation of the stage of Metallica’s last gig with Burton in Stockholm. “We want to continue the fine work that the fans started when they started raising funds to make Cliff’s memorial stone,” the organizers stated on Instagram, where you can keep up with what’s sure to become an attraction for heavy metal tourists.

  • An Update on Eloy Casagrande of Sepultura’s Broken Leg

With only four shows left in the tour, Sepultura drummer Eloy Casagrande fell off the stage during a break between songs in El Paso last week and ended up breaking his tibia and fibula.

The band finished out the tour with Bruno Valverde of Angra, while Casagrande returned home to Brazil for surgery. Eloy took to Instagram post-surgery to let fans know it was a success and he’s looking to get back behind the kit very soon.

  • Jason Richardson Talks About Getting Kicked Out of Born of Osiris

All That Remains guitarist Jason Richardson recounted in a recent podcast appearance what caused the break between him and the band Born of Osiris a decade ago.

“The reason I ended up getting kicked out is because I would complain about all the partying. So they kicked me out. And then I joined Chelsea Grin less than 24 hours after that. That last tour, I was literally playing Skyrim on my laptop away from everyone besides the shows.  But in hindsight, it was probably one of the best things that ever happened to me career-wise.” While he only recorded one album with Born of Osiris, Richardson certainly left his mark.
