Breakfast is my favorite meal. Let me correct that: Breakfast food is my favorite food. Sometimes I eat "breakfast" at night, because I love items like pancakes, eggs and toast with jam so much. Here in Michigan, we have a lot of great breakfast places. It's hard to pick a favorite, because they're all so good, and many of them are locally owned, which makes them extra special.

The crew at Eat This, Not This! has put together a study to determine the best place to get pancakes in Michigan. "Pancakes are a breakfast staple," they state in the study. It's hard to argue with that. "Most of the time, you'll find pancakes at roadside diners topped with butter and maple syrup. But if you're willing to look a little harder, there are some major gems in cities across the country. We're talking pancakes made with potatoes, topped with brown butter, or even stuffed with fruit and whipped cream."

Who, which establishment is No. 1 when it comes to pancakes? According to the publication, Cafe Meli in Portage is on top when it comes to those sweet cakes. "This hidden gem restaurant in Portage is serving up potato pancakes served with sour cream and applesauce for a sweet and savory breakfast, lunch, or dinner," they state.

I've never been to Cafe Meli, but that makes me want to trek out there and try it. When it comes to pancakes, I personally love chocolate chip, because they taste like huge, warm chocolate chip cookies. My second favorite kind of pancakes are blueberry, but with the blueberries in the batter, not the syrupy blueberry stuff on top. I'm pretty sure blueberry pancakes are the most popular pancakes of all time, but it's cool the wide variety places offer these days. Enjoy those cakes!

"Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives," hosted by Guy Fieri on the Food Network, is one of the most popular shows for food lovers. There's just something super entertaining about Fieri, and the show is so fun to watch. What's extra cool is that Fieri has come to Michigan multiple times and picked local restaurants to highlight on the show.

TVFoodmaps.com has compiled a full directory of all the restaurants that have appeared on "Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives." Think of this as a list of spots every Michigan food lover should visit. Some of these restaurants are familiar to me, like Krazy Jim's Blimpy Burger, while others I are not. My parents actually live just a few miles from Zaytoon Mediterranean in Lansing, Michigan, and I had no idea they were featured on the show until now. They do have some great Miditerranean food. Which are your favorite Michigan spots that you think should be featured on the show? Reach out to me on social media and give me some recommendations!

In total, Fieri has highlights 16 different Michigan restaurants on "Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives." What can I say- we have some great eating spots here! View the full list of Michigan restaurants featured on the show below, and make sure to visit them at some point. View the full list here.
