On the latest episode of Talkin' Rock with Meltdown, Dee Snider hopped on to talk about the Leslie West tribute album (which is out now). He also talks about the Station Nightclub fire 19 years ago, which he's raised money for to help the victims.

During the interview, I asked him the biggest misconception about himself. After a brief delay of thought, he said it's about his politics.

"That I am either extremely left, or extremely right. I'm both hailed and reviled by both sides," he said.

He went on to say that he takes positions on both sides. The left hates him because he's a concealed carrier, and people on the right have a problem with his social conscience. "I'm not left. I'm not right. I'm just Dee," he said. He also said he thinks most people are somewhere in the middle, like him. He said one magazine described him as a "gun-toting feminist."

Meltdown started on the mighty WRIF on the evening of Halloween, 1995. Technically, his first on-air shift was the morning of November 1st. Moving to the Motor City from Buffalo, N.Y., he has built a career and family. Over his almost three-decade stint at RIFF, he's had the privilege to work with some of the biggest personalities in Detroit radio history. He boasts of being just the second-afternoon drive jock in the station's illustrious 53-year history. Along with his love for rock music and attending concerts, he's also an avid Harley-Davidson enthusiast and hockey player. He plays year-round and manages to squeeze in a few charity games throughout the year. Meltdown writes about the Detroit Red Wings, rock music, and Detroit concert venues.
