Update on the Oakland Hills County Club Fire
The Oakland Hills County Club was all over the news Thursday (Feb. 17), from CNN to People Magazine, but for very sad reasons. The historic county club caught on fire and burned to the ground. Thankfully, according to Oakland County Executive David Coulter, nobody was hurt.
“I’m thankful that no one was hurt in the blaze and hope for a speedy recovery and rebuild for the club that has brought such a rich golfing heritage to Oakland County,” Coulter said in a Facebook statement.
An investigation is being conducted by the BTFD and Life Safety Division in accordance with the Oakland County Sheriff Fire Investigation Unit to find out the cause and origin of the fire. So far, the cause isn’t known.
The Oakland Hills Country Club was founded in 1916. It will be rebuilt. Check out drone video of the fire below.
