Midnight Metal

LOS ANGELES, CA - NOVEMBER 03: Dave Grohl performs onstage during 2018 LACMA Art + Film Gala honoring Catherine Opie and Guillermo del Toro presented by Gucci at LACMA on November 3, 2018 in Los Angeles, California.

This morning, a lyric video by a band called “Dream Widow” appeared on the Foo Fighters’ YouTube page. The song is called “March of the Insane” and the only info provided is that it’s “from their never released self-titled album.” The very metal-sounding jam recalls at least part of Grohl’s recent . Odds are, the song has something to do with the band's upcoming filmStudio 666.

Grohl, of course, is no newcomer to extreme metal sounds: his 2004 Probot project saw him collaborating with a number of legendary metal vocalists, including Lemmy of Motorhead, Max Cavalera of Soulfly (and formerly Sepultura), Cronos of Venom, and King Diamond of Mercyful Fate. And in 2015, he was part of the Teenage Time Killers project, which also included Neil Fallon of Clutch, Randy Blythe of Lamb Of God and Corey Taylor of Slipknot. Most metal of all, he played Satan in the Tenacious D film The Pick of Destiny.

Check out Dream Widow below. Studio 666 opens in theaters on February 25.
