Precautionary Boil Water Advisory in Effect for Much of Novi, Walled Lake, Commerce Township

On Tuesday (Jan. 11), the Water Resources Commissioner has issued a Precautionary Boil Water Notice for Commerce Township and Walled Lake. The majority of Novi is also under a boil water advisory

According to a release, the advisory is because of a loss of pressure that happened during the repair of a Great Lakes Water Authority water main break.

"Whenever a water system loses pressure for any significant length of time, precautionary measures are recommended because a loss of pressure can lead to bacterial contamination in the water system,” the statement reads.

The advisory asks residents to boil their water before using it for drinking and cooking. Residents are asked to boil their water for at least one minute, have it cool off and then use it. For more information, go here.
