Michigan State head coach Mel Tucker was recently crowned Big Ten Coach of the Year, and as it turns out, it was a close, close race.
Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh was also in the running. According to the Detroit News, Tucker upped Harbaugh by only one vote to snag the Big Ten Coach of the Year award for the 2021 season.
Tucker ended the season with ten wins and a spot in the Peach Bowl. He also led Michigan State to a win over rivals Michigan. This was his second year with the Spartans. I personally think it was the right choice, and that’s not just because I’m a Spartan. For Tucker to lead the Spartans to the kind of season they had this year, just his second year in, is pretty incredible.
