Slipknot made headlines following their November 2 concert in Phoenix which saw a 30-minute delay so local firefighters could extinguish a bonfire that raged on the lawn section of the Ak-Chin Pavilion. Now, an investigation has been launched related to the fire.
Per AZ Central, a spokesperson for the Phoenix Fire Department said, “The fire was thoroughly extinguished without any extension to the major structure and no injuries were reported at the incident. The exact cause of the fire is currently under investigation and no persons were displaced at this incident.”
As previously reported, fan-shot video shows the fire was fueled by folding chairs that were stacked in a mound and lit on fire. As the fire grew, it was estimated the flames shot up to at least 30 feet in the air and was visible from various angles inside the amphitheater.
