Michigan Ranked the Second Best State for Fishing – Here Are the Top Spots
Michigan is great for fishing, thanks to the Great Lakes, and now, it’s official. A new survey put out by LawnLove has named the Mitten the second best state in the U.S. for fishing.
So, what’s No. 1? Alaska. I guess that makes sense, but I’d like to think we’re on top. Maine is No. 3. They also state that the best places to fish in Michigan are Saginaw Bay, Union Lake and Lake St. Clair.
“Michigan’s performance is no surprise — after all, the state’s name derives from the Ojibwe word Michigama, meaning ‘large lake,'” LawnLove says in the study. “Surrounded by four of the five Great Lakes, Michigan boasts the longest freshwater coastline in the world. And with nearly 65,000 lakes and ponds, the state easily earned first place in the Access category.”
