Who doesn’t have good memories from Boblo Island? I remember my parents taking me there multiple times as a kid, and it was always such a job.
Now, a new film captures the magic of, and efforts to save, Boblo.
“Boblo Boats: A Detroit Ferry Tale” will have its world premiere at the Freep Film Festival on opening night, Sept. 22. The documentary tells the story of preservationists’ attempts to save the island park’s steamships.
The movie will open the entire film festival with a showing at the Redford Theatre.
General admission tickets run $20, while VIP will set you back $60. Doors open for VIP at 6 p.m. and general admission at 7 p.m. The film starts at 7:30 p.m.
