While Michigan had been largely excluded from the list of areas where the federal government is asking fully vaccinated residents to wear masks in public indoor settings, due to "high" or "substantial" transmission of coronavirus, that changed today (Aug. 2).
The CDC had added 31 counties from Michigan -- including Oakland, Macomb and Ingham -- to their list of areas where they are recommending indoor masks for all residents in public spaces.
The counties make up roughly 46% of Michigan's population.
Almost 57% of residents ages 12 and older are fully vaccinated. The national average is 58%.
