National Canoe Day is Saturday (June 26)!

In honor, here are some events happening around Detroit where you can get your canoe and kayak on.

The Friends of the Detroit River will host an event beginning at 9 p.m. Saturday where you bring your own kayak. The event takes place at the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge in Trenton. For information, visit facebook.com/friendsofthedetroitriver.

The Friends of the Rouge, National Kidney Foundation of Michigan and Motor City Canoe and Kayak Rental are hosting a "demo day" from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The event takes place at Kessey Field House in Melvindale. For information on the Friends of the Rouge, visit therouge.org.
