The U.S.-Canada border will stay shut until at least July 21st, according to Bill Blair, the Canadian federal minister of public safety.

Blair announced the news today (June 28), stating on Twitter, “in coordination with the U.S., we are extending restrictions on non-essential international travel and with the United States until July 21st, 2021.”

He added that “the government is planning measures for fully vaccinated Canadians, permanent residents, and others who are currently permitted to enter Canada.”

He said more information will be available June 21.

The border between the U.S. and Canada has been closed for non-essential travel since March 2020.
