A Fugitive Rented a Helicopter to Turn Himself In to Police
A wanted fugitive in New Zealand hid out in the woods for five weeks, and then hired a helicopter to pick him up so he could turn himself in. And on his way to the police station, he got champagne and oysters for lunch.
The fugitive was wanted on charges for hurting someone (we think with a knife), possession of a knife, several counts of harmful digital communications, and failure to appear in court. He actually turned himself in because he was worried police labelled him as dangerous and he was scared they were going to come after him like in the movies where they jump out with big guns.
