Eastern Market Brewing Co. is expanding into the former ROAK facility in Royal Oak.

In an Instagram post, the brewery calls the last 18 months a "whirlwind," as they opened a Ferndale location and then had to close due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Our number one goal has been to keep our staff employed, so we got to work, and got creative," they say on Instagram. "We launched ten new businesses (some stuck and some didn’t). But the ones that have stayed and grown have been living in @ferndaleproject for the last year+."

Eastern Market Brewing Co. calls the new ROAK space the "perfect size and location." It's a 17,000 square foot warehouse with a 30 barrel brewhouse, plus a kitchen with a pizza oven.

"The acquisition of the space allows us to do the things we want to do—expand Peddler; relaunch our Detroit-style pizza with a new identity; and expand Dooped Donuts — but it also allows us to do things we hadn’t planned for but are excited about," they added on Instagram.

The taproom could be open by the end of the year, but the brewery states they aren't rushing anything.
