Congratulations are in order for three Michigan breweries, which picked up awards at the 2021 New York International Beer Competition.

The competition looked at more than 800 beer submissions from 14 different countries.

Judging for the competition was conducted by panels of four or more qualified trade buyers. "Our trade-only judging panelists work with wine and their customers on a daily basis," the New York International Beer Competition states on their “Judging Process” page. "They are a mix of restauranteurs, cicerones, sommeliers, retail beer buyers, distributors and importers. We try to assemble each judging panel with a mix of different disciplines so multiple viewpoints will be considered in the evaluation of the wines."

The Michigan winners include HomeGrown Brewing Company (Oxford), New Holland Brewing (Holland) and Third Monk Brewing Company (South Lyon).
