Essential travel, including business and commerce, will continue as it has been the past few months.
"Informed by science and public health guidance, we will work with our counterparts to identify an approach to easing restrictions when conditions permit and with the protection of our citizens from COVID-19 at the forefront of our minds," the DHS said in a statement.
The Canada-U.S. border has been closed to non-essential travel since last March to stop the spread of COVID-19.
