Portillo’s has officially opened its doors in Sterling Heights.

The restaurant, which is the first Portillo's in Michigan, is located at 14425 Lakeside Circle in the restaurant and retail corridor of the Northern suburb of Detroit.

Portillo’s kicked off their grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony this morning (March 16), hosted by Vice-President of Restaurant Support Michael Portillo. Sterling Heights Mayor Michael Taylor was also on hand.

The menu at Portillo's features signature items such as Chicago-Style Hot Dogs, Famous Italian Beef Sandwiches, Char-Grilled Burgers and Portillo’s Famous Chocolate Cake.

The 7,900-square-foot restaurant is able to accommodate more than 180 guests. This is also the first Portillo’s to feature a "garage-style theme with décor elements such as a fully restored 1931 Ford Wrecker, drawing inspiration from the area’s vast automotive history," according to a release.

The area also features double drive-thru lanes and a seasonal outdoor patio.
