How to Save Money While Online Shopping?
Online shopping keeps growing and growing. Even before the pandemic hit, online shopping was trending upwards, so with literally billions of people around the world being forced to stay at home, that trend obviously went through the roof.
There’s no denying that online shopping is convenient and fast. Personally, I save a ton of time buying items online instead of driving around town trying to find them. But, is online shopping cheaper?
It certainly can be less expensive to purchase items online, but you have to know how to shop. The worst feeling is buying something online only to see it offered at a much lower rate at a different online shop or during a special sale.
So, what’s the secret to how to save money while online shopping? Read on for some tips and tricks to save money online shopping, and have some fun!
Wait It Out
Here’s a tip: After you put your items in your online cart, wait for a while. All stores are different, but some stories will send you a special coupon code or discount if you leave items lingering in your cart long enough. What’s more, even if that doesn’t happen, if the items in your cart are currently full prices, there’s a good chance they’ll go on sale within the next week. If you don’t need the items right away, wait it out, and the deal might be worth the wait!
Go Curbside
Curbside pickup is all the rage, due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Often times, if you’re doing online shopping at a store near you, you’ll have the option to order it online and pick it up for free. Opting for curbside pickup can save a massive amount of money by avoiding shipping and handling costs. For example, if you purchase items from five stores this week and do curbside pickup to avoid fees, if shipping costs are $10 per store, that saves your $50. It’s totally worth it to save money online shopping!
Look Around
Often times, several stores online will offer the same products. If you have your heart set on a certain item, let’s say a watch radio (to listen to WRIF!), when you find the exact item you want, shop around and compare. Chances are, you’ll find the exact watch at several stores, and one will have the best deal due to the item being on sale or a free shipping offer. Doing price comparison shopping only takes a few minutes, and it can save a lot of cash.
Coupon and Promo Codes Rule
When doing online shopping, some of the biggest savings come in the form of coupon or promo codes. When you go to check out, you’ll likely see a box that says something along the lines of, “Enter promo code here.” Don’t have one? Head to a site like RetailMeNot.com, Coupons.com or CouponCabin.com (or CouponCabin.com’s Sidekick extension) to find one. You can also try using a money-saving app, such as Rakuten.
Best of luck as you save money online shopping!
