The 63rd annual Detroit St. Patrick’s Parade and Corktown Races have been canceled for 2021 due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Each year, more than 80,000 people attend the parade. It was slated to happen March 14, the Sunday before St. Patrick's Day.

“As we continue to follow the COVID-19 safety protocols, it became very clear that it would be difficult to promote and host the 2021 Detroit St. Patrick’s Parade in a way that maintained safety for our sponsors, members, participants and viewers,” United Irish Societies President Michael Kelly said in a statement.

Kelly added, “Therefore, with heartfelt disappointment, the United Irish Societies and Detroit St. Patrick’s Parade Committee have decided to cancel the 2021 Detroit St. Patrick’s Parade this year."

But, the good news is that we already have a new date for 2022. The United Irish Societies has officially rescheduled the parade and Corktown Races for March 13, 2022.
