Weekends

If Tiger King has taught us anything it’s that there is a ferocious appetite for news stories about people and animals acting badly and the wild happenstance of life. In that spirit each night during the 9 and 10 o’clock hour I enjoy playing a game with you, the listener, called Florida or Australia. The rules are simple: I’ll tell you about a news story on the air and you text or call in and tell me if you think the story happened in Florida or Australia.(because those two places seem to have a high concentration of craziness.) Here are tonight’s stories:

Florida man accused of throwing pancake batter at woman arrested

(WFLA) - A Hernando County man is behind bars after deputies say he threw a bowl of pancake batter at a woman over the weekend.Deputies arrested 45-year-old Dwayne Zimmerman late Friday night at his home on Ruth Street in Brooksville.

In this image made from video, a racing pigeon sits on a rooftop in Melbourne. CANBERRA: A racing pigeon has survived an extraordinary 13,000-kilometer (8,000-mile) Pacific Ocean crossing from the United States to find a new home in Australia. Now authorities consider the bird a quarantine risk and plan to kill it.

Be sure to tune in Monday through Friday nights at 9 and 10pm if you want to play along.
