It’s official: Dylan Larkin is the new captain of the Detroit Red Wings.

Larkin, a 24-year-old center from Waterford, has been named the 37th captain in franchise history. He will also be the first Red Wing to sport the “C” since Henrik Zetterberg in 2017-18.

“Dylan is an extremely competitive and driven player who sets the standard for dedication and conduct for the Red Wings,” Red Wings general manager Steve Yzerman said in a statement. “This is the right time to name our new captain and we’re certain Dylan is ready to take on the responsibility. He will be an outstanding leader for us, both on and off the ice.”

Larkin joined the Red Wings in 2015-16, after one season at the University of Michigan. Welcome!
