UPDATE: Eastern Market Brewing Co. has pulled their "Same Old Lager" beer following Barry Sanders threatening legal action for using his likeness on the label without his permission.

Eastern Market Brewing Co. has unveiled a new beer that pays tribute to the Detroit Lions. Kind of.

Just before the Lions-Panthers game Sunday, Eastern Market Brewing Co. announced a new beer, called "Same Old Lager," with the caveat to not "set your expectations too high."

The can has artwork featuring what appears to be Lions great Barry Sanders on the label with a Tecmo Bowl football field in the back.

"This classic American lager is exactly what you’d expect," the beer description states. "Light, crisp, and always leaves you wanting more. Just keep telling yourself 'the Next Beer, will be The Beer.'"

Sanders isn't too happy about the new beer. Here's his tweet regarding the image on the beer:

This is a developing story.
