A bevy of local musicians are joining forces to help raise funds for the Pope Francis Center in Detroit.

The event features Sponge, who usually performs a benefit concert at St. Andrews Hall every year. This year, an in-person show won't be happening due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, but that's not stopping Sponge and other bands from supporting a good cause.

Sponge is current working with other local musicians to create a vinyl fundraiser album. The songs, according to The Oakland Press, will be recorded at a closed session Sunday, Sept. 13, in St. Clair Shores and be available to purchase on Nov. 28 in conjunction with Small Business Saturday, both online and at Third Man Records Cass Corridor.

The EP will feature Sponge and Dombroski's other band, the Orbitsuns, plus Jennifer Westwood & the Handsome Devils, the Hard Lessons, the Ricky Rat Pack and the Firewalkers, adds The Oakland Press.

Great music for a great cause is a win-win in my book!
