It was in 1983 that McDonald's introduced the Chicken McNugget to their menu and now some 37 years later, McDonald's is adding Spicy Chicken McNuggets for the first time ever in the U.S.
The menu item will be available nationwide for a limited time starting September 16.
McDonald's said the McNuggets will be breaded with a tempura coating made of both cayenne and chili peppers.
Linda VanGosen, vice president of menu innovation at McDonald's said, "As our customers have been asking for Spicy McNuggets for some time now, we couldn’t think of a better time to bring them to our menus."
According to the USA Today, to pair with the new McNuggets, McDonald's is also introducing a Mighty Hot Sauce combining crushed red pepper and spicy chilis and savory garlic.
Along with the McNuggets, McDonald's is also adding a Chips Ahoy! McFlurry, which features vanilla soft-serve ice cream, caramel topping and Chips Ahoy! cookie pieces.
