Kellogg's Chex cereal is a favorite around the world, and now, the cereal is getting a new, poignant twist in South Korea.

The new flavor -- get this! -- is green onion. It's a flavor, apparently, 16 years in the making.

In 2004, Kellogg's Korea kicked off a "President Election Event" to advertise the chocolate Chex cereal. The two candidates were chocolate Chex cereal characters “Cheki” and “Chaka.” Cheki wanted chocolate, while Cheki opted for green onion.

South Koreans voted, and even though Chaka ended up with more votes, Cheki won with Kellogg’s Korea stating there were some discrepancies with Chaka's votes.

People have been saying the election wasn't fair for years, and now, Kellogg’s Korea is correcting that by releasing the Green Onion Cereal, stating, “The Flavour That You’ve Been Waiting for 16 Years Is Here.”

The video to advertise the cereal is wild! Watch it below.
