What are some of your favorite hometown artists? I'm lucky to live in a town rooted in great bands and artists. Here's just a few from my collection that I like.

I mean, Ted IS the Motor City Madman! He's a Detroit guy to the core. Same goes for Alice Cooper. I talked to Alice about a month and a half ago on my Talkin' Rock podcast and he couldn't stop talking about Detroit. He recorded his latest album here that's suppose to come out soon. Here's a classic from the original band.

A little closer to the 2000's, it's Kid Rock. I made friends with him in early 1999 and have been friends ever since. He was kind enough to send me his whole catalogue of albums on vinyl. Here's a classic from him.

As far as up-and-comers go, Greta Van Fleet is my go-to band. This ep and their album are so good. Can't wait to hear what they do next.

Meltdown started on the mighty WRIF on the evening of Halloween, 1995. Technically, his first on-air shift was the morning of November 1st. Moving to the Motor City from Buffalo, N.Y., he has built a career and family. Over his almost three-decade stint at RIFF, he's had the privilege to work with some of the biggest personalities in Detroit radio history. He boasts of being just the second-afternoon drive jock in the station's illustrious 53-year history. Along with his love for rock music and attending concerts, he's also an avid Harley-Davidson enthusiast and hockey player. He plays year-round and manages to squeeze in a few charity games throughout the year. Meltdown writes about the Detroit Red Wings, rock music, and Detroit concert venues.
