Meltdown: Lock Down – Day 3 Doors Down
Happy Friday! Yes, it’s Friday.
Monday marks the first day of June and my June Music Challenge. It’s easy to do and I hope you guys will do it along with me throughout the month. Here’s a video I made to explain it. #MeltdownsJMC
A quick nod to a band I’ve known for two decades. Their debut album celebrated it’s 20th anniversary this past February. I could post story after story about these guys, but I’ll keep it brief.
Back around 2008 the guys were touring the country and made a stop at the venue by where I grew up. I took a few days off and rode my Harley back to meet guitarist, Chris Henderson to put some miles on. Back then he would haul his motorcycle behind the tour bus. The guys had an afternoon singing at a local Walmart so we met early and started out. I took him by the famous Attica prison. While we sat on our bikes admiring the massive wall that kept the inmates in, he commented “This is like something out of the Discovery channel!”
Another story I’ll never forget was when the guys came through town to play the Detroit Grand Prix about five years ago. It was pouring so the guys had my son and I come up on the bus and just hang out. I won’t get into the story here but singer, Brad Arnold, was talking and uttered this phrase “As country as cornbread.” My son had never heard such a thing. Until this day, when someone mentions anything about the country, he always says that.
I could go on and on but not today. Better guys are harder to find in this business, or on this planet. I’m so proud to call them friends. We’ve kinda grown up in the business together. Great guys! I was going to go down to see Brad in Nashville at the end of March when this whole Covid thing hit and had to cancel.
Congrats on 20 years, boys….here’s to many more!
