Meltdown: Lock Down – Day IDK
Well, another day and more things canceled. I guess we just have to be strong and lean on each other to get through this. One a positive note, it’s National Hamburger day. Try taking that away, Covid! That will be the theme for the FourPlay At 4. It could be a tougher one today, since I don’t really play Jimmy Buffett songs on the RIFF.
Of course you can wash down that burger with a nice whiskey. Have you tried the Metallica Blackened American whiskey? On my latest Talkin’ Rock podcast my guest was master distiller, Rob Dietrich. What a life this guy has led. From moving around the south western part of the country with his family as a child, to the service, to working as a rigger for lighting on concert stages to master distiller….and I’m just skimming the surface. You can listen to our fun conversation here. I also added the Instagram interview I did with Badflower. it was too good to leave off.
A quick story to wrap up a Thursday blog. Lets flashback to 2011, specifically August 12 & 13th. Kid Rock was playing two shows at Comerica Park. If you there on the Saturday show you probably remember the huge storm that blew through near the end of Sammy Hagar’s set. People ducked for cover all over the stadium. The sky turned all sorts of strange colors as a cold front was moving in. It was pretty gnarly for a little bit, but came and went fast. I was with some of Rock’s friends and family and we took cover in the inner workings of the stadium. Somehow I ended up sitting down and talking to Ndamukong Suh. I recall asking him if that was really the house he had grown up in that was used in the Dodge commercials. He said it was really his childhood home. He was pretty nice and talkative.
That was just the tip of the iceberg as far as that day goes. Someday I’ll post about the rest of it. Lets just say this, I got home around 7:30am Sunday morning. I’ll leave it at that for now.
