Meltdown on WRIF

Weekdays 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Happy Memorial Day weekend! Take some time to think about the brave men and women who fought for the country, the greatest on the planet. Thank You!

I had the chance to do another Instagram video yesterday, this time with Josh and Joey from the band Badflower. It was solid! Josh talked a lot about the new music they’re working on and what lock down has been like for them.

A quick story about something that happened during the interview. I had told my wife that I was going to be it talking the guys a few days ago. She said “They’re the band that plays that song “Ghost”, right?” I told her it was, that’s when she said to me “I wonder what is mother thinks about that song?” Now, if you’re not familiar with the song, it’s about depression and an attempt at suicide. In it, lead singer, Josh Katz sings “And I should have told my mother, “Mom, I love you” like a good son. But this life is overwhelming and I’m ready for the next one” These guys do interviews all the time so I thought that was an obvious question. So, as you can watch on the video, I start to ask the question and Josh starts shaking his head as if to say “No” He told me that he’d never been asked that question. I couldn’t believe it. I thought for sure he’d answered it a million times. He went on to tell me how writing the songs are the easy part but sometimes confronting his parents or friends about certain topics in the songs is the hard part. It’s weird, sometimes the obvious question is the one that never gets asked. You can watch the entire interview below.
