I'll put the stories of celebrity encounters on hold for today. Trust me, I've got lots of dumb stories to pass on in the future.
Today I thought I'd just talk about an article I read penned by Dave Grohl. It in he talked about the live concert experience. I haven't seen a live band since mid-February when I saw Tom Keifer and his band at The Machine Shop. Little did I know at the time that would be the last band I was to see for a while. I mean, who knows how long. Reading the article from Dave struck me and made this a little more real. Yes, concerts and tours are getting canceled even as I write this. I guess it finally sunk in for me. It will hit me harder when the weather warms up and I'm not taking in live music anywhere. And it's not just the live music, it's the overall experience. Just off the top of my head, the Vince Neil show in Sterling Heights last year sticks out in my memory. I mean, there was nothing that spectacular about the show, but there was about 5,000 people taking in a live show on a picture perfect summer night in Michigan.

Taking in a Shinedown concert a couple years ago with my kids. Sharing this with them is something I miss.
As I interview some of these rockers, I ask them if there's a little bit of them that is kinda liking the "break" from their regular lives. They all say that they do enjoy being home with their families but an equal part misses being on that stage doing what they do best. I get that. Normally, I would be driving all over the planet from hockey rink to hockey rink watching my son. While the break has been a little refreshing, I'm kinda done. I want to watch him play. I want to see you at a concert, wether it's riding my Harley on a beautiful summer night to the Token Lounge, or home from DTE. I can't wait to be walking the concourse at the LCA and have someone stop me to say "Hello". I look forward to making more stage announcements.
I'm going to quote one of my friends from Facebook - "Sharing the whole experience, the music, the energy, the raw visceral emotion with my girlfriend is something that feeds my soul and helps me achieve balance. Really missing this." Tonight we would've all gathered at the LCA to see Five Finger Death Punch, Papa Roach and I Prevail.
I don't know when it's going to return to normal but I can tell you this, it's going to be one hell of a party!
