Meltdown: Lockdown – Day Twenty Eight

Well, I gave it a shot. I was truly looking forward to it. I was hoping it was going to be great! It was not. I made it through about 30 minutes of Saturday Night Live last night and had to shut it of. I applaud them for trying but it was not good. Total disclosure, I'm not a big fan of the show but will surf by sometimes and give it a look. I'm sorry, Pete Davidson is just not funny at all and that's just the tip of the iceberg for how brutal the show was last night.
Ok, onto other things. It should be a big week of interviews on my Talkin' Rock with Meltdown podcast. I ALWAYS jinx myself when I announce what guests I have coming up. Lets just say I have a whole band on this week. A drummer, bass player, singer/guitarist and singer. That's all I'll say.....
Today, we honor Megadeth's, Dave Mustaine on our RIFF of the day. He responsible for so many killer riffs. I'll never forget the first time I met him. It was June 26th, 1991 and they were touring with Slayer, Anthrax and a very young and new Alice In Chains. The tour was aptly named The Clash Of The Titans. We went backstage with some listeners to do the meet and greet with the band. Somehow, the talk got onto skydiving. I said something along the lines of "I'm afraid of heights, so that's something I'd never do.". Dave was holding something in front of himself, signing it when I said this. He stopped and looked at me over his round, John Lennon glasses he was wearing, and said in a deadpan tone "A guy named "Meltdown" is afraid of heights?".

I've had the pleasure to interview Dave several times and he's always thoughtful and engaged in the conversation. I've been fortunate to make friends with the Megadeth bassist, David Ellefson, and I'm better because of it. He's one of the nicest people you could meet in this business, or anywhere! By the way, David has a killer new track out called "Simple Truth". Check it out!

Have a great Easter! See you back here tomorrow....
